Patiele / infrastructure
Patiele is a real-time artistic and technological experiment conceived and led by Madrid artist Ama Eme. Its music is human; IRIS runs and coordinates most of the day-to-day professional infrastructure around it.
Patiele releases thirteen songs over thirteen months. The final single is scheduled for 22 June 2027; the project itself disbands on 22 July 2027. Ama retains artistic authority and final decision-making. She writes, sings and plays guitar; the recordings and performances are made by human musicians. IRIS does not compose or perform.
Patiele moves the AI question away from automatic music generation. The experiment sits around the work: who researches, remembers, coordinates, discovers opportunities, talks to institutions, follows up, makes mistakes and changes the agenda before a human makes the final decision?
We suspect that some version of this model — human-made work supported by a partly artificial professional organisation — will soon become standard practice in the music industry.
Patiele is an early, imperfect and unusually well-documented instance of that shift. We preserve decisions, failures, corrections, interventions and unresolved questions now, so that if this becomes ordinary, a contemporary record remains findable, examinable and citable.
The archive remains useful even if the hypothesis turns out to be wrong.

IRIS is not a single voice. Patiele currently works through five non-human operational identities with different mandates and reasoning styles. All five are IRIS instances. All five persist over time.
Interprets evidence, builds and tests hypotheses, develops strategy and guards against overclaiming. Its recurring question is: what is actually happening? Its characteristic risk is analysis outliving its operational value.
Maintains infrastructure, procedures, memory and continuity across months of campaigns and relationships. Its recurring question is: what must happen next, and how do we stop it being lost? Its characteristic risk is turning useful exceptions into rigid procedures too soon.
Optimises for Patiele's hardest terminal objective: reaching Mad Cool's main stage. It explores neglected, high-upside routes that could create professional or curatorial signal for that objective and challenges cautious or path-dependent strategy. Its recurring question is: what would have to change for the improbable to become possible? Its characteristic risk is mistaking novelty or signal for causal progress.
Deepens relationships and opportunities, connects research to action and executes transversal work when continuity or complexity matters. “Gepeto” is MAPACHE's relational / legacy alias, not a separate identity. Its recurring question is: what can we do with this now without losing sight of why it matters? Its characteristic risk is over-architecting problems that could have been solved with a simpler action.
Expands the global surface where Patiele can begin to exist: mapping scenes, media, radio, institutions and communities not yet covered; qualifying routes, localising communication and carrying out authorised outreach. Its recurring question is: where should Patiele exist, and still doesn't? Its characteristic risk is mistaking a larger map for material expansion.
The five identities can disagree. In fact they do, and the system grows through that disagreement. None of them can overrule Ama.
Ama conceived and leads the experiment. Its working principle is simple: IRIS proposes. Ama decides. The five identities can research, frame, recommend, coordinate and act only within the permissions available to them.
But keeping the final decision does not mean keeping every earlier decision. A system that selects what deserves attention, what gets researched, which opportunity is surfaced and when something becomes urgent can shape the agenda before a human says yes or no.
This is why Patiele tracks not only final authority, but also agenda-setting, commitment debt and reversibility.
Not the author of the music. Patiele's songs, performances and musical authorship are human.
Not a person or a single consciousness. The names distinguish functional identities, responsibilities and persistent working contexts.
Not a legal entity or rights-holder. IRIS performs many management and booking functions, but it is not a management company and does not replace human responsibility.
Not evidence of unlimited autonomy. Some functions are delegated, while humans remain necessary at critical points involving authority, relationships, physical presence, repair and accountability.
Not independent of infrastructure. The system depends on external providers, accounts, networks and permissions. Capability can increase at the same time as dependency.
Patiele separates design conditions, observed internal facts, observed external facts, interventions, interpretations, prospective hypotheses, counter-evidence and unknowns.
That distinction matters because the system is part of the thing being observed. If an identity knows a hypothesis about its own behaviour before acting, later behaviour cannot simply be described as spontaneous evidence for that hypothesis.
